Troy Sand & Gravel, Inc. (TS&G) is seeking a high quality, production oriented site operations leader at its West Sand Lake, NY location. Responsibilities

General:  Over all operational responsibility for a vertically integrated 300+ acre mining site with quarry, asphalt and ready mix operations including rolling stock maintenance operations


Specific Areas Of Responsibilities

  • Ensure and perform smooth, efficient, environmentally compliant and safe day-to-day site operations

  • Truck and Earthmoving Equipment shops with 8 mechanics, 2 welders and tire manager

  • Quarry operations (e.g., blasting, crushing, processing, reclamation)

    • Management of satellite sand and gravel and top soil operations (3 in Rensselaer County, NY  (Mechanicville, Lebanon, Schaghticoke) and 2 in Saratoga County, NY (Providence, Clifton Park), 

    • Operational support on a request basis for Herkimer County, NY quarry, Canaan, CT sand and gravel mine and Falls Village, CT quarry.

  • Coordinating with on-site asphalt and ready mix concrete plant leaders to maintain consistent and uptime plant operations.

    • Operational support on a request basis for satellite asphalt and ready mix concrete  plants 

  • Recruitment, development and retention of site employees (~80 employees) 

  • Aggregate quality control

  • Compliance, particularly environmental and MSHA compliance with all government permits and regulations, including permitting and modifications.  Includes neighbor and community engagement.

  • Inventory management and productivity

    • Provide feedback to marketing on pricing to optimize supply/demand trade offs

  • Equipment specification and procurement for replacements and expansions

Desired Requirements

Significant prior relevant work experience in construction, mining and/or production.

Prior and proven management experience

4 year college degree+

Solid mechanical aptitude for evaluating and improving equipment and plant processes.

Comfortable with harsh quarry environment and hands on management in assuring smooth and consistent operations.

Comfortable, knowledgeable and able to assist with continuing movement towards increased adoption of digital tools and processes.

Self-starter comfortable with minimal direct oversight.
